Primerica is it a Scam?

I had a representative here in my city (Cartersville,Ga) email me on myspace. Alot of people know this website and I was freaked out about the whole thing. Everything this man was promising me seemed to good to be true. I did ask him to leave me alone that I was not interested but he kept on and on so I gave in. I went to my first interview with him here in town last thursday and was asked to come back for orientation which was yesterday 8*21*07 at 6:30pm. I arrived with my fiance and we both sat there for an hour listening to three people talk about this company. I personally feel like this isn't a legit job. I also looked this company on the Better Buisness Bureau and they are not a member and there have been several complaints on this company. Yes its not for everyone, but I personally can't live off of a commission based job. I am a student in college and I have to have something that is going to be dependable and get paid with a basic salary or an hourly job.
For most of us when we hear that potentially we can make $1,000 to $3,000 a month we get really excited about it and want to learn more. Well I have done excessive research on this company and to me personally I think that this is just one big joke.
At the orientation there was this lady that talked about how she is 28 years old and is the Regional Vice President of the company and how she doesn't owe anyone any money whatsoever because she makes all this money with the company. Common sense even if she's paid off her house and car and whatever else...if u have a car u still have to pay for ur tag every year. If you have a cell phone you have to pay a monthly bill, you have to pay for your utilities in ur home. So basically when she said all of that...I immediatly thought to myself this is a bunch of bull. It doesn't matter how much money you make you still have bills you have to pay regardless. And to me that one lie that she just told everyone that was in that orientation could lead up to alot more than just one lie.
I was asked to go back today 8-22-07 at 5:30pm... for my fourth interview or whatever they call it. Personally I don't think that I will go to it because of everything that I have researched and found out about. This company may very well be a legit company and may be a great job, but as a student I don't have the time to sit around and try to recruit people to buy this insurance or whatever they proclaim to be.
They also said that they don't sell insurance or financial services, they "educate" people about their company. Let me ask this. If u are educating someone about this wonderful insurance/financial services and you want them to invest into this company you are basically trying to sell it to someone. You can educate anyone on anything. I don't believe that this company is legit and my belief is that "if it is too good to be true then it isn't true" I strongly feel like this. I first thought wow this would be the best opportunity for me and this would be a great way to make lots of money to get myself out of debt. I am 21 years old and of coarse this sounded like a great idea. But when you start to ask questions none of the representatives would give me a straight answer. And to me that seems a little fishy. They don't tell you about job benefits that you will recieve like any other normal job would, they don't tell you anything that you want to know about the company itself.
The represenative that contacted my on myspace told me that the company was looking for honest people. Well if the company tells one little white lie then what does that tell you? doesn't say too much for them now does it? They also told me and the rest of the people that were at the orientation that you have to pay $200 for a State License and for a background check. They tell you that you will be reimbursed, but they don't guarntee it either. Commission based income...I don't know about the rest of you but I can't live off of that. Like I said before I a student in college and I can't afford to have a commission based income job. For some they can. but people like me can't.
So my question is: Is Primerica really a legit Job and if so then they should be a memeber of the Better Buisness Bureau. Also are they really a Scam.
I guess I will post an update on what I find out this evening and let everyone know. I think that I just might be disappointed in what they are going to tell me. but I will let everyone know. If you have any comments please comment I would like to know if anyone other than myself has had a bad experience with this company and why. And if you haven't then tell me about your experience. Before I make my decision I would like to know about others opinions.
thanks Missy R.

Hi. I like your blog. I see you have mentioned Primerica Financial Services, the largest financial services marketing organization in North America. From this great site www.pissedconsumer.com I learned that the company operates approximately 100,000 licensed independent representatives. The company provides quality financial products and services, including term life insurance, mutual funds, variable annuities, loans, auto and homeowner’s insurance, long-term care insurance, and legal services to some 6 million clients. .
